Mapping & GIS Data: Data Download Agreement
Please review this agreement before downloading Buckeye Trail GIS and GPS data.
Please note: The BTA Trail Line on this website is for non-commercial use. Commercial vendors need to contact the Buckeye Trail Association for a commercial agreement.
The Buckeye Trail GIS and GPS data, developed by the Buckeye Trail Association (BTA), represents the most current digital depiction of the Buckeye Trail centerline and its associated trail features. Locational information used to create these data sets were obtained from global positioning systems (GPS) survey data collected between 2009 and 2012. All data are in latitude/longitude (decimal-degrees) format, using either the North American Datum 1983 or World Geodetic System 1984 (see metadata for details), and all units are in feet.
These data sets were developed to provide a digital depiction of the Buckeye Trail centerline in a usable and easily transferable format to assist the BT staff, agency partners, and land managers; to aid local planning agencies, telecommunications companies, and other groups with planning activities, that could have a substantial impact on the Buckeye Trail; and for scientific and educational use by universities and other groups. The GPS data set was developed to provide a general depiction along the Buckeye Trail in a format that may be uploaded to common consumer-grade handheld GPS units for recreational and entertainment purposes. These data are not considered an official source of information for navigation.
To access and use this data, we ask that you agree to the following liability disclaimer and that you use proper citation (see metadata for details) on any materials (digital or printed) in which this information appears, and that you use data for the purposes above mentioned and not for commercial gain.
The Buckeye Trail Association shall not be held liable for improper or incorrect use of the data described and/or contained herein. The accuracy of these data and related graphics (i.e. "GIF or JPG" format files) cannot be guaranteed to a high degree because the information contained in these data is dynamic and may change over time. It is the responsibility of the data user to use the data consistent within the limitations of geospatial data in general and these data in particular.
The Buckeye Trail Association gives no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of these data. It is strongly recommended that these data be directly acquired from BTA servers and not indirectly through other sources that may have changed the data in some way. Although these data have been processed successfully on several different Global Positioning Systems (GPS) units and on computer systems at the Buckeye Trail Association, no warranty express or implied is made regarding the utility of the data on other systems for general or scientific purposes nor shall the act of distribution to the public or other agencies constitute any such warranty. This disclaimer applies both to individual use of the data and aggregate use with other data.
Downloading this data signifies acceptance of the data "as is." The Buckeye Trail Association shall not be responsible for errors or omissions in the data and shall not be obligated to provide updates, additions, or corrections to the data in the future. The Buckeye Trail Association, its agents or officers shall under no circumstances be held liable for damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, business interruption, loss of information, injury or death, arising out of the use of or inability to use the materials.
