Outdoor recreation opportunities

• Hiking and Biking: The Buckeye Trail and the Great Miami Riverway offer extensive paths for exploration. The Buckeye Trail and North Country National Scenic Trail wind along Dayton’s scenic rivers as the trail passes through several of Five Rivers MetroParks and along land managed by the Miami Conservancy District. The trail through the Greater Dayton Region is one of the longest continuously off-road sections along the entire Buckeye Trail and North Country Trail at nearly 40 miles and includes three locations for trailside camping (Eastwood MetroPark, Island MetroPark, and Taylorsville MetroPark).
• Birding: Englewood Metropark, Woodman Fen, and the Great Miami River provide many opportunities to add a bird to your lifer list.
• Kayaking/Canoeing: The Great Miami River provides opportunities for paddling adventures. Kayak rentals available at RiverScape MetroPark.
• Ice Skating: Available in the winter months at Riverscape MetroParks.
• Horseback Riding: More than 30 miles of equestrian trails available in Five Rivers MetroParks, with rentals available at Carriage Hill Riding Center.

• Dayton Air Show: An annual event showcasing aviation displays and performances.

• Subaru Outdoor Experience: Partnered with Five Rivers MetroParks, the Midwest’s premier outdoor adventure festival began in 2005, and now attracts more than 15,000 people each October. Camp, connect, compete, and experience dozens of outdoor activities.
• National Bike to Work Day: Held the third Friday in May, it’s the largest Bike to Work Day Event in Ohio.
• Concours d’Elegance: Held each September, this is Dayton’s premier antique and classic automobile and motorcycle show.
