Places to visit

• Andrew L. Tuttle Memorial Museum: Curation of the history of the City of Defiance and its immediate surrounding areas.
• Auglaize Village: This historical village was founded in 1966. Along with its 41 new, restored, and reconstructed buildings, the village also has several museums. Every year there are special event days where authentically costumed craftsmen demonstrate a wide variety of pioneer skills.
• Old Fort Defiance Park: The site of old Fort Defiance at the confluence of the Auglaize and Maumee Rivers is a location rich in history. Several historic markers located on the site detail some of the location’s unique features.
• Historic Homes of Defiance: Defiance has beautiful historic homes in the downtown and surrounding area. Examples of the architecture include Greek Revival, Italianate, Second Empire, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Prairie, Craftsmen, and Bungalow styles..
• Riverside Cemetery: The wooded, scenic riverside roads make this cemetery a popular site among locals for running, walking, and contemplation. The beautiful Riverside Chapel was built in 1890 and contains the grave sites of veterans of the War of 1794 and War of 1812.
• Defiance Reservoir Walk & Nature Trail: The Reservoir Nature Trail is an eight-foot wide, multiuse trail extending from the Defiance Reservoir parking lot through approximately 2,500 feet of natural wooded area. It connects to a “lower” pathway around the municipal reservoir, offering quiet walks through nature. The “upper” trail is a 1.25-mile stone walkway around the top of the reservoir that provides unobstructed views of the reservoir and occasional waterfowl. Benches are spaced along the walk, and handicapped parking is provided near the boat ramp. The Reservoir trails utilize a section of the historical Miami & Erie Canal along Canal Road and connect to the Buckeye Trail.
• Pontiac Park: Features “in-town” river access with a boat ramp and ample parking. This beautiful park has a splendid view of the confluence of the Maumee and Auglaize rivers.
