About Loveland, Ohio
Loveland is a city in Hamilton, Clermont, and Warren counties in southwestern Ohio, considered part of the Greater Cincinnati area. Located about 15 miles northeast of Cincinnati near exit 52 off Interstate 275, the community sits along the scenic Little Miami River and serves as a hub for outdoor recreation.
History and Geography
Loveland was named after James Loveland, who ran a general store and post office near the downtown railroad tracks. The town grew around the Little Miami Railroad, which connected Cincinnati to Xenia and fueled population growth as commuters passed through the river town. In the 1980s, the rail corridor was transformed into the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail, now a major draw for visitors. The Buckeye Trail runs concurrently with the Scenic Trail as it passes through Loveland.

With shopping, great food, and sweet treats, Loveland’s Historic Downtown District has it all. Spend a day enjoying a picnic lunch in Nisbet Park, enjoying a meal at one of our restaurants, shopping at a boutique store, taking a bike ride, and so much more. The Buckeye Trail, also known as the Little Miami Scenic Trail, runs through the historic downtown parallel to the Little Miami River.
Outdoor recreation opportunities
- Hiking: Besides the Buckeye Trail, there are nature trails ranging from an easy to strenuous rating in Loveland.
- Biking: Loveland is located on the Little Miami Scenic Trail, which is a paved asphalt trail. Bike rentals are available.
- Kayaking/Canoeing: River access to the Little Miami River at Lake Isabella, Nisbet Park.

Amenities
- Public camping area: A primitive campsite is located at 39° 16.400’ N, 84° 15.372’ W (about a quarter mile north of Nisbet Park). The campsite is free of charge. To obtain a permit, complete the permit request here and submit a “Buckeye Trail Town Camp Site Request.”
- Access to restrooms: Restrooms are available alongside trail and at Nisbet Park.
- Shower availability: None at this time.
- Grocery store: An upscale grocery store is located on the trail in Loveland, as well as a few convenience stores.
- Post office: 200 Loveland Madeira Road, Loveland, OH 45140
- Outdoor store: Vertical Drop, a fully supplied outdoor store.
- Bike pump and/or repair kit: Bike repair station available in Nisbet Park.
- Food options: As the trail crosses East Broadway Street, there are numerous restaurants, from coffee shops to breweries to shaved ice, in a two-block area north to O’Bannon Creek.
