Caesar Creek State Park requested a slight change to the Buckeye Trail near Point 7 at the Swimming Beach. The change also required a location change for Point 7 to the edge of the beach at the woods on the north side of the beach. As a result of these seemingly small changes other points are affected. The research into the descriptions revealed other issues for some additional points. The good news is that the actual length of the trail did not change at all.
The trail log that follows provides the corrected information for all the points involved:
Point 6 Access Road for Furnas Shore Boat Ramp
This point is identified as “P” on the Caesar Creek State Park (CCSP) Perimeter Trail. CCSP HQ can be reached in 0.34 mi by going N on the service road across SR 73.
Go S on lawns along boat ramp road for 0.17 mi. There, turn left (E) into woods above lake. Follow BT beneath SR 73 causeway and then join access roads. Go N passing pond on left, marina on right. Where road turns left, BT turns right, follows the shoreline and crosses the beach. (P, S, W, WC and snacks).
Point 7 North End of Swimming Beach at Woods.
Enter woods and continue above W side of lake. After 0.5 mi, reach a primitive boat launch where trail turns left (N) on access roads and reaches another large paved parking area w/ boat ramp, (P, PT, W, WC). Go in front of WC (0.1 mi) and enter woods on the left (N). After 0.5 mi, cross abandoned road and head NE on top of dam.
Point 8 NE End of South (First) Saddle Dam
Exit saddle dam and join the red blazed Moonlit Vista bridle trail turning E into the woods and towards the lake. At the junction of the Moonlit Vista and Solidago Downs bridle trails, Moonlit Vista bridle trail heads W and reaches Horseman’s Group Campground (CG) (PT, W (purify)) after 0.6 mi. CG may be available with prior reservation (Contact CCSP HQ). Follow the Solidago Downs trail towards the second saddle dam.
Point 9. S End of North (Second) Saddle Dam
