Pt 29 Entrance to Veterans Park (Lake Metroparks) to Pt 32 Morton’s Park.
Last spring, the citizens of Mentor approved the construction of an observation tower at Mentor Lagoons Park. The top deck of the tower will offer panoramic views of the marsh, uplands, and Lake Erie. An additional ADA-accessible elevated platform will be constructed at the same time. The park has announced that there will be intermittent closures of the Lagoon Trail to allow for construction. These closures start March 27, 2026 and will continue for 9 months.
This construction project causes the Buckeye Trail (BT) to detour from Pt 29 to Pt 32.
All BTA mapping products are affected by the closure.
The following is the detour which will avoid the construction area:
• Head N from PT 29.
• In 0.4 miles at the intersection with Lakeshore Blvd (Oh 283), turn right (E) onto Lakeshore Blvd.
• Continue E for 2.6 miles to the intersection with Corduroy Rd. Turn left (N) on Corduroy Rd.
• Remain on Corduroy Rd rejoining the BT after .6 miles at the intersection with Woodridge Ln.
• Continue N on Corduroy Rd following the information in your BTA mapping product.
Note that the detour completely bypasses Pts. 30 and 31.
