Details

This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing relationships with donors. The Donor Relations Coordinator thanks donors, provides them with updates on the organization’s impact. They may also organize donor appreciation events and communicate planned giving options.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Data Analyst to send thank-you messages and acknowledgments to donors in a timely manner.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating donor appreciation events or recognition initiatives.
  • Communicate information about planned giving and other giving opportunities.
  • Provide updates to donors on BTA programs, projects, and trail impacts.
  • Collaborate with Fundraising Manager and Corporate Partnerships Manager to enhance donor engagement strategies.

Outcome/Impact

The Donor Relations Coordinator ensures donors feel valued and informed, increasing retention, engagement, and contributions. Their work directly supports the financial sustainability of the Buckeye Trail Association and enables continued trail maintenance, community programs, and conservation efforts.

Risks/Hazards

This position primarily involves computer-based and office work with minimal physical risk. Occasional travel or attendance at events may include standard outdoor or event-related hazards.

Term Limits

One year term limit. Terms automatically renew unless circumstances require otherwise. We deeply value your time and your willingness to support the Buckeye Trail in a volunteer capacity. We do our best to check in as needed with new volunteers to ensure you have the tools and support you need to make a difference. As a volunteer, you understand that your service is entirely voluntary. At any time and for any reason, either you or the BTA may choose to end your volunteer service. A volunteer position may also be adjusted, in conversation with the relevant BTA staff member, to better suit either the needs of the BTA or the interests of the volunteer. The best way to ensure you're well supported and providing meaningful service is to stay in regular and proactive contact with your BTA volunteer point person, who will be introduced to you during the onboarding process.


Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professionalism and discretion in managing donor information.
  • Commitment of approximately 1-5 hours per month, with flexibility during donor campaigns or events.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in donor relations, customer service, or nonprofit communications.
  • Event coordination experience or interest in organizing appreciation initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with staff and volunteers.

Expectations

  • Maintain timely communication with donors and BTA staff.
  • Represent the Buckeye Trail Association professionally in all donor interactions.
  • Participate in planning and executing donor recognition activities.
  • Support the organization’s mission and values in all interactions.
