Always check before you go
Before hitting the trail, always check the Map Updates and Trail Alerts pages for the latest information.
Both Map Updates and Trail Alerts are organized by the Section where they occur. Unless the trail route has changed, the Points used to identify the affected area remain constant.

Map Updates
The Buckeye Trail is continually being improved. Map Updates note permanent changes to the trail route from what is shown in the latest map edition.
- Updates remain available for older maps for several years to help those still using the previous edition.
- You can keep an older map current by recording all posted Map Updates.
Trail Alerts
Trail Alerts indicate temporary disruptions along the trail.
- Examples include closures due to storm damage, construction, or flooding.
- When conditions are resolved, the trail reopens along the original route.
- All Alerts are based on the current map edition, though older maps are supported as needed.
